What is a Masterclass?

A Masterclass is a live, examiner-led revision session focusing on one specific GCSE English text or exam skill.

Each session is designed to help students develop the knowledge, confidence and exam technique needed to maximise their marks.

During the Masterclass, we'll break down the assessment objectives, analyse model responses, complete exam-style activities and explore exactly what examiners are looking for.

Will I receive the recording afterwards?

Absolutely!

Every Masterclass is recorded, so if you can't attend live or would simply like to revisit the content, you'll receive access to the recording along with the accompanying revision workbook and resources.

How is the Masterclass delivered?

Masterclasses are delivered live via Zoom in an interactive format.

Students participate using the chat facility, complete activities throughout the session, analyse model answers and have opportunities to ask questions as we go.

Cameras and microphones are not required, allowing students to learn in a relaxed and comfortable environment.

What is included?

Every Masterclass includes:

• A live, examiner-led online lesson
• A comprehensive revision workbook
• Interactive activities throughout the session
• Independent revision tasks
• Personal examiner marking and feedback on work completed during the session
• A recording to watch again before your exams

Do I need to prepare anything beforehand?

No preparation is necessary. Simply join the session ready to learn.

For Literature Masterclasses, it is helpful if students have already studied the text, as the sessions focus on improving analysis, essay writing and exam technique rather than teaching the plot from scratch.

Any resources needed for the session, including the revision workbook, will be provided.

What exam boards do you cover?

Unless otherwise stated, the skills taught in these Masterclasses are suitable for all IGSCE| GCSE English exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, OCR and Eduqas.

Text-specific sessions are designed around the requirements of the relevant exam board and set text. For example, the Power and Conflict Poetry Masterclass is specifically designed for AQA students studying the Power and Conflict Anthology.

Please check each Masterclass description before booking to ensure it matches your child's course.
